BARF Diet: No time like the present!With all of the buzz in the news about contaminated pet food, you’re concerned. You may, in fact, be confused. While the diet, developed by Dr. Billinghurst, does not suggest to return your pets to nature, it does equate to an evolutionary diet. Consider this: the natural environment has potential to be dangerous. It lacks veterinarians, it lacks the appropriate vaccinations, and medical treatments in general. When we say evolutionary diet we’re not recommending returning your pets to nature, rather the purpose of the BARF is biologically appropriate raw food. Evolutionary diet. It’s about providing pets with the very food their ancestors ate; the raw and whole food that is balanced, nutritious, and simple. Although you may be accustomed to buying canned foods from the shelves, the BARF diet offers a different approach. Fresh. Raw. Whole, healthy foods. Meats, bones, organ meats, vegetables. While these items are available in the supermarket, similar to the processed foods with labels, we recommend checking the labels to ensure additional sugars or salt have not been added.
