Dog Party!

The holiday season is upon us and once again people are gearing up to celebrate the season.  The weather is getting colder and people all over the world are getting ready for their holiday get-togethers.  But what better way to have a holiday blast then by having a dog party.  Think about it!  You love dogs.  Your friends love dogs.  So why not!

A Holiday Dog Party—An Overview

What better way to celebrate the holidays this year then by having a dog party for you and your friends!  Tell everyone to bring one doggie toy or treat for every dog they are bringing, and that the gift should be wrapped.  Of course the best toys for your party will always be found at The Dog Bowl, so shop early this year!

As your guests arrive take there coats and give them a number on a small piece of folded paper.  Only the person who receives the number should know what their number is.  Instruct your guest to put the gift that he or she brought underneath the Christmas tree (or other place assigned for gifts).  Don't forget to let everyone know that you will all be playing a dog party game after everyone has arrived.

After everyone is there and settled, sit them all around the tree, and announce that it is time to play your dog party game.  The person with the lowest number gets to go first, and that person, with their dog's help, gets to pick one present from the pile.  After they have unwrapped their juicy gift, instruct the next highest number that they may now either choose to take someone's gift who has already chosen a gift, or they can take one from underneath the tree.  If someone's gift gets taken they get to go to the tree and pick another gift.  It's that simple!

So, as you can see, in this game it is more advantageous to have the highest number. Whoever has the highest number can see what everyone else has and pick the best of the best!  Have fun!  And remember not to get attached to anything until you are sure it is yours!

Another must have for any dog party is to have treat bowls set aside for the dogs.  Go to our online store and buy some cool looking doggie bowls to put the treats in.  You can use them as door prizes to by selling raffle tickets to raise money for your favorite animal charity.  Keep them out of reach of the dogs, or you will quickly run out of treats!  Especially, when those treats come from our online store, dogs love them!

Let the dogs get along and play.  Having a pet friendly backyard helps during these little get together so that the dogs have some place to play, but even more urban climates where backyard space is either limited or nonexistent is fine too.  (See "Backyard Basics: Run Doggie! Run!" for some backyard tips.)  If you are not going to have access to a backyard you are just going to need to make sure you have some way of taking care of any potential 'accidents'.  Dogs will be dogs, and whenever a whole bunch of them get together some accidents should be expected.  For the truly glamorous dog party, you can either buy or have some sort of indoor or artificial lawn that will make cleaning up any messes a snap, or a puppy pad also works nicely.

Any room that contains items that would be hard to replace if they got peed on should be off limits, so make sure people know which doors to keep closed.

Have fun this year, and don't forget to plan your dog party early.
