Your dog should get used to their paws being touched by you at a very young age. From when they are puppies you should hold their paws so they are used to touch, and will be more comfortable with their paw pads getting touched. Try giving them a treat, and then take one of their paws and check it for the following things.
- Nails. The first thing that should be looked at is their nails. Are they getting a bit to long. If they are they could actually be pulling away from their paws while they walk. - Paw Licking. Dogs naturally want to lick their paws to keep them clean and well maintained. This is usually not a problem. But you need to be aware of what is getting into their paws. For instance if you use fertilizer you want to make sure that it is safe for your pets to ingest. Especially if you use insecticide on your lawn, it is probably a good idea to keep your dog off of the lawn for a while to. If that stuff gets on his paws, you can be sure that he will eventually digest it. This can lead to your little dog getting sick or even worse! So be aware of what your dog puts his paws on!
