About the designer: Thro Home by Marlo Lorenz. THRO is the ideal brand for those wishing to express themselves at home with fun, fashionable and affordable home décor pieces. The brand's creator, Marlo Lorenz, once found it difficult to find reasonably priced home furnishings that would express her personal style, and took it upon herself to solve the problem. Her inspiration for each piece stems from her extensive travels abroad and interest in international culture, her childhood upbringing in a diverse Brooklyn neighborhood and her love of the fine materials synonymous with high-fashion. By creating THRO, Lorenz is able to share with a broad range of consumers her beloved and creative designs.
Marlo Lorenz graduated from FIT with a strong focus in fashion and marketing, and shortly thereafter began her career in the fast-paced fashion industry. While working as a fashion merchandiser for a women's sportswear line, Lorenz saw an opportunity to satisfy a niche market elsewhere. Lorenz found that the home furnishings market was lacking a well-priced, stylish line of home décor items appropriate for the mass market, and immediately set out to change this. As the THRO brand was launching, Marlo's personal life was changing as well, as she was starting a family and building a home. This personal change further strengthened Marlo's goal of creating soft home furnishings and accessories that could make her own home (and many others) glamorous, yet livable.
THRO offers soft home furnishings and home accessories in a wide variety of colors, textures and patterns that add a touch of brilliance and fun to any home. Since launching in 1998, THRO has seen great success with their decorative pillows and throw blankets, which inspired Lorenz to expand the brand to include pajama sets, bath robes, baby clothing and dog beds.
